Sound Observatory New Orleans presents THE SHAPE OF JAZZ TO COME, a monthly series dedicated to the presentation of jazz as it was intended. New Compositions, contemporary Ideas and excellent musicianship.
This month we've got extra specials guests in Mike Dillon and James Singleton.
The Singleton/ Dillon duo is a rare and beautiful beast. It lives on the sidelines to the robust schedules of these celebrated New Orleans musicians. Vibraphonist, Percussionist, Punk Rocker -Mike Dillon will use any object in his midst to create driving rhythmic beds that loop and weave with frequent collaborator, composer James Singleton on bass, baby trumpet and loops. The result is an incredible wielding of sound from danceable to contemplative from two vibrantly original musical personalities.
James Singleton — is an acoustic bassist, composer, and producer. He is a member of the New Orleans-based jazz group Astral Project with Johnny Vidacovich, Tony Dagradi, and Steve Masakowski.
