Part 2 20 Hours

Schedule:
Friday: 6-10 PM
Saturday: 11-3 & 4-8
Sunday: 10-2 & 3-7

Michelle will offer:
*Full break down of the Samkhya System’s Tattva Chart
*The ritual of sleeping soundly as medicine
*The neuroscience of Yoga Nidra
*How to lead Yoga Nidra for the body, chakras & koshas
*Lead Yoga Nidra for each dosha
*The Gunas relationship to Ayurveda & the elements
*The Astral Body Focus; Healing the Koshas, Nadi’s and chakras
*Treating insomnia and anxiety with the 5 senses & Hatha Yoga Pradipika practices
*Ayurveda Yoga Therapy; The medicinal therapy of each asana

Meghan will offer:
*The Subdoshas: In Balance, Out of Balance, & How to Balance
*Agni, the Digestive Process, & How the Subdoshas Participate
*10 Pairs of Opposites: Brief Review of the Qualities of the Mahabhutas
*The Rasas: How They Relate to the Elements & Each Dosha 1 hour,
*Diet & Food as Medicine: How to Feed Each Dosha
*Culinary Herbs: Your Spice Cabinet As a Medicine Cabinet

*Note, in Module 2, you will be lead in some Yoga Nidra each day as your practice!

Entire 20 Hour Course Training: $395. Choose to pay in 2 installations at $198 each, once before and one before the training begins.

About Your Qualified Ayurveda Presenters:

Michelle Baker has been teaching yoga full time since 1998 in many traditions and numerous certifications such as SIvananda, Jivamukti, Anusara and Ashtanga. Since Yoga goes along with Wellness as an overall lifestyle, she has also studied various Wellness modalities of Restorative Yoga, Sound Baths, Mantra music, Reiki Attunements, Ayurveda and Yogic counseling in Ashram and Eastern settings. She has offered many different Yoga Teacher Trainings to hundreds of beings since the year 2008.

She is the Founder of Swan River Yoga and travels the world to study yogic traditions and gather natural medicine information ideas and ways of life. She has delved into the teachings and lifestyle of Ayurveda, the Mother of Yoga, in many clinics, counseling, private sessions, personal cleanses, ashrams and travels to India and SE Asia, since first going to India in 2006.

She officially completed a certification as an Ayurveda Therapist from the California School of Ayurveda through Dr. Marc Halpern at the Sivananda Ashram in March, 2016. She attended the Ayurveda Conference at the Sivananda Ashram in January 2017 and another 100 hour certification course in April 2017 through the American Institute of Vedic Studies as directed by Dr. David Frawley. She offers numerous private consultations on Ayurveda and lifestyle recommendations for optimal health.

She is honored to be one of the first, along with Meghan Hays, to offer in-depth Ayurveda to the commUnity & Globe.

Meghan Hays
Meghan Hays has been a full-time fitness, wellness, and Pilates instructor since 2007. She deepened her understanding of the physical, subtle, and causal bodies through completion of all three Reiki attunement trainings with Michelle Baker at Swan River Yoga, as well as completion of Swan River Yoga’s 400 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2016. For over a decade, she has been fine-tuning her understanding of true “wellness” of body, mind, and soul, and she was naturally led to the life-science of Ayurveda.

Meghan fell in love with Ayurvedic medicine, lifestyle, and nutrition in 2014, largely through the writings of Drs. Deepak Chopra and David Simon. She has since completed a 50-hour meditation and Ayurveda course at the Chopra Center in California and is nearing completion of a 600-hour Ayurvedic Health Counselor course with the California College of Ayurveda, founded by Dr. Marc Halpern. She plans on completing a total of 3100 hours of study and internships over the next four years to become an Ayurvedic Doctor.

Ayurveda, the science of Life, is the Mother science of Yoga. One can not exist without the other. Both practices must be there for a thorough experience of yoga to take place. Join us in healing your senses, body and life or consider becoming certified in all 3 modules!

Module 2: Lead by Michelle and Meghan

Focus: Diet, Digestion & Sleep Therapy

Part 2 (20 Hours)
With:
*Samkhya system’s key concepts (Michelle)
*Breaking down the Tattva Chart (Michelle)
*Subtle Body; 4 flows of the Vayus, Chakras & Nadis (Michelle)
*3 Bodies; Physical/Subtle/Causal (Michelle)
*Philosophy of The Gunas to activate homeostasis (Michelle)
*20 qualities and 10 pairs of opposite qualities (Meghan)
*Subdoshas — symptoms when vitiated and treatment (Meghan)
*Diet, nutrition and the food that you eat as medicine (Meghan)
*Sleep patterns, time and quality (Michelle)
*Dhatus; order, formation, symptoms when vitiated (Meghan)
*Shrotamsi — symptoms when each shrotas is vitiated (delving deeper into digestion; bodhaka kapha, pachaka pitta, samana vayu, and apana vayu) (Meghan)

By Session 2’s Start (October 13), the following must be turned in or reviewed:

1. Read: “Healing Your Life. Lessons on the Path of Ayurveda” by Dr Marc Halpern
Write 1 two page 10 font paper on ways to heal the 5 senses from this book.

2. Yoga Therapy Class Transcripts:
Create a 1 hour Private Ayurveda Yoga Therapy Class to pacify each of the 3 doshas Vata, Pitta and Kapha adding Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, Mantras or anything significant to balancing each dosha.

3. Receive an Ayurveda Consultation from one of you Ayurveda Therapists, either Michelle Baker or Meghan Hayes. (*NOTE: You will receive the “teachers discount”, but this is a separate fee from the course. *(Have them sign off on this as part of your homework complete)

4. Experience a complete Yoga Nidra Session either in a public class at Swan River Yoga, in a Private setting with Michelle Baker, or by purchasing “Yoga Nidra” by Swan Michelle and doing the sessions quite a few times before meeting again.

Write in a 1 page essay what you experienced in Yoga Nidra in your own mind and body and why you find it both important and relative to the teachings of Ayurveda.

5. “Practice” giving an Ayurveda Consultation to another (family/friend or peer) and fill the entire consultation out to hand in.

6. “Practice giving a Dosha pacifying yoga private session to another and write out what you did for this person in a 1 page summary to hand in. *Note, we can create other alternatives for you if you are not a certified yoga instructor.

7. Additional Suggested book to have read: “Yoga For Your Type” by Dr. David Frawley

8. Complete and turn in Take Home Test/Review

9. Apply a committed and suggested daily personal Dinacharya practice appropriate to your dosha combination for all 5 of the senses with 1. Aroma Therapy 2. Diet/Food Patterns 3. Color/Visual Therapy 4. Sound Therapy 5. Touch Therapy with the additions of Abhyanga oil, tongue scraping, morning rituals, being in nature, doing yogic practices, proper sleeping hours and patterns.

1. Ayurveda Therapist: 100 Hours
2. Ayurveda Counselor: 500 Hours
