Casa Borrega will host its fifth annual Day of the Dead masquerade on Tuesday, November 2, 2017, from 7-11pm. The free Dia de los Muertos event will feature the legendary Iguanas, with their blend of Americana and Mexican vernacular. Come in costume and dance the night away.
The day’s special menu will include Casa Borrega’s mole and pozole, smoky mezcal diablos and vampiros (tequila, grapefruit soda and sangrita) with hot spicy chocolate and pan de muertos for dessert.
Hugo Montero has been creating Day of the Dead altars since the early 90’s in New Orleans. This year he and his son Orestes will create another fabulous altar installation in Casa Borrega’s patio. The altar will honor the many casualties of the year’s natural disasters in the Carribbean, Mexico and United States.
The community is also encouraged to bring photos of their loved ones who have died since last November 1. The altar will be ready for viewing and open to the public during business hours starting Monday, October 31, 2017.
