Nothing can stop a song from being born, even total poverty. From cigar box guitars to washboards and washtub basses, musicians have created their own instruments when ones could not be bought. Shane Speal returns to the New Orleans Jazz Museum with his band, The Snakes for a special acoustic jug band concert that explores the homemade instruments of America's past.
This unique concert features songs performed on those instruments mentioned above, but in a wild, modern feel. Speal also presents stories and legends between the songs, highlighting great New Orleans musicians as well as other American music legends.
The band performs as part of the 2018 New Orleans Cigar Box Guitar Festival. The show is January 18 at 7pm inside the New Orleans Jazz Museum stage.
