We have one more English cask tapping! For the first time, we will be pouring Coniston Old Man Ale on cask. Old Man (named after the mountain in England's lake district where the brewery is) is a beautiful and soft yet rich brown ale. Meant to be consumed freshly (and quickly!) the beer has 4.4% ABV and it undergoes secondary fermentation in the cask. This type of drinking is different, as we have experienced through the several lovely casks we've put on in the last month or so. The beer has a smoother mouth-feel, yet it is more lively-it has more character. While the tradition of cask (or real) ale is somewhat of a lost art in the states, the Brits continue to make wonderful, classically (and not so classically) brewed beers that deserve celebration.
We will be pouring the beer in our balcony bar by the pint. There are no tickets for this event and the brew will be served on a first come, first served basis.
