On Thursday, April 29, from 7:00pm — 10:00pm, students from the St. Charles Parish Satellite Center in partnership with the New Orleans Jazz Museum presents “Swing at the Mint”— an extravaganza featuring live swing jazz music, great culinary delights and a fabulous silent auction.
The evening will feature a top shelf cash bar, delectable food from the Satellite Center Culinary Arts students and some of the finest eateries in and around New Orleans. The sensational Jazz Masters will perform and interpret traditional swing and jazz standards. On the night of the event, the Old U.S. Mint will be open to tour multiple exhibits such as “Reel to Real: The Louis Armstrong Collages” and a brand new exhibit on Herman Leonard's photography.
In addition to the delicious food and great music, a silent auction will be conducted with donations solicited by the Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism students from the Satellite Center. Some of the exclusive donations highlighted include weekend “getaway” packages, golf, tour and plantation packages and a wide selection of local art. All proceeds from the event benefit the New Orleans Jazz Museum.
