Show Opening with Sound Installations
(Video works will stay up through August)
Harleigh is an artist and student on track to complete a B.F.A. in Digital Art at Tulane University this upcoming Spring. She works mostly with the mediums of video and sound, utilizing layering and a spatial treatment of the digital towards her goals of creating immersive and affective experiences. The result is at once disturbing and then soothing, with humorous and cathartic undertones.
«My work is centered around bodies. When I use the term body I am not concerned merely with the physical flesh but am thinking through bodies as an assemblage of physicality, mind, and societal forces. I think through objects, sounds, technology, and the environment as bodies, with interest in the consciousness and entanglement of these entities. Heavily inspired by the tensions of the human form, my work will often suggest a bodily presence even when the human body is absent. It may imply themes of sex, though this is not definitive of the piece, but acts as a lens in which to explore ideas of discomfort, control, release, anxiety, and the erotic. “
